Introduction to Turning A
Description: In this class, students will learn:

The safety and basics of turning

Lathe components and turning tools

Tool sharpening and use

How to perform the basic cuts on spindles: V-groove, coves and beads
The class concludes with the student making a honey dipper, including sanding and finish. This class will help prepare you to get the certification necessary to use the shops lathes. This class will help prepare you to get the certification necessary to use the shop lathes.

Format: 2 sessions, 5 hours each

Introduction to Turning B
Description: In this class the student will learn:
- Lathe and tool safety
- Tool sharpening
- Bowl gouge use and introduction of the four basic cuts:
- Push cuts, pull cuts, scraping cuts, and the shear scrape
- How to make a dovetail tenon to fit a four jaw chuck
- Using a lathe-mounted drill chuck.
Level: Beginner
Prerequisites: Age >18; Turning A and Shop Spindle Certification;
Format: 1 session, 5 hours
Project you will make: Weed vase and Jam Chuck

Bowl Turning
Description: Turning wood bowls is a wonderfully creative experience. In this class you will make two bowls from start to finish, with an emphasis on safe turning practices.
Level: Intermediate
Prerequisites: Age > 18; Introduction to Turning B and Lathe Spindle Certification; or instructor Consent.
Format: 2 sessions, each 4 hours
Project you will make: 2 bowls
