Hand Tool SIG on 11/14/2020 at 10:00 (register here).
Good day and I hope you are all safe and well.
As the holiday season is soon to be upon us, our scheduled SIG meetings are very close to Thanksgiving and Christmas, so we will only meet once each month on November 14 and December 12. We will resume the normal schedule in January. I am hoping that we will have a special guest speaker on December 12. Watch this space.
This Saturday we will continue our journey through sharpening by demonstrating how to sharpen a Travisher blade which is curved and like most blades only works well when the edge is nicely tuned.

Two sessions ago I demonstrated using a Travisher to shape a stool seat and this time we will look at how to take a square section chair leg and make it circular using planes and a spokeshave.
Using variations of this method one can make custom rounded and tapered legs for many uses.

In these uncertain times I want you to know that, as somebody who likes to use hand tools, I go to bed each night in the serene knowledge that when the Zombie Apocalypse happens and there is no electricity, I will be able continue to make my own furniture! Even if I am a Zombie!
We look forward to seeing you on Saturday.
