Refurbishing a Train Engine
Who do you call when you have a vintage train sitting in the middle of your town that needs refurbishment? Well when the engine compartment is mostly wood, you reach out to the San Diego Fine Woodworkers Association.
We’re helping the La Mesa Pacific Southwest Railway Museum refurbish the wooden cabin of their Mohave Northern Rail Road steam engine, originally built in 1915/1916. La Mesa Pacific Southwest Railway Museum
A big thanks to Matt Smith and the team of volunteers that have taken on this project. If you want in on the fun with this one in a lifetime opportunity, email Matt at msmit2990@gmail.com.
The train is just one example of how the Association shares our passion for woodworking by volunteering in the community. It’s an opportunity for us to give back while also providing us an opportunity to get others excited about woodworking.
