Amazing woodworking projects are exhibited at Design in Wood. We have renown talent such as Bob Stevenson, Russ Filbeck, Del Cover whose work is widely seen. That leaves the fine work of over 1,000 SDFWA members whose projects are never seen.
Let’s fix that! Let’s give visibility to your woodworking projects.
With our new website, the SDFWA is in a much better position to show off members’ work. There are a variety of ways you can get your projects seen via pictures, words and videos. Review the options, reflect on your woodworking accomplishments and take action.

Here are your options:
- Share Pictures: This is easy. Just send us pictures (cropped square) and a brief description. We’ll take care of posting it on Instagram afterwhich is shows up automatically on our home page (red box area). In recent months we’ve showcased over 200 member projects. Why not yours too?
- Share Stories: Showcase your work in a written article. Describe a technique in a step-by-step guide. Tell the story behind one particular workpiece. Make it visual by peppering your article with images. We’ll work with you to whip it into shape for publication. Finished articles get scheduled for publication on the website (green box area).
- Share Videos: Are you good at showing and telling? Talk us through your work while showing us what you’ve done. Have a woodworking presentation that’s ready for wide viewing? If it’s related to a Special Interest Group then talk with your sSIG leader about presenting and recording it. Send us your idea for consideration. We offer a regular stream of new video content on our homepage (blue box area).
Send in your pictures or words or videos and we get them published.
Showcasing great projects is good for you, your friends and the SDFWA. It’s a wonderful feeling to have your work be seen. Once it’s online you can easily send links to share with friends and family. For the SDFWA, it helps us make the point that we’re focused on our mission: fostering and showcasing great woodworking projects.
Next steps? Where do you learn more? Who do you send your stories to? Until more people volunteer to support the website you can send your email to Editor@sdfwa.org. We’ll do what we can to give your projects visibility!
