September Volunteer of the Month Joe Penny
SDFWA September volunteer of the month is Joe Penny. Joe is someone whose generosity, skill, and commitment have made a meaningful difference in both Special Projects and Shop Operations. Most recently, he brought tremendous care and craftsmanship to many of the shop’s cabinet and organization projects to include constructing the rolling assembly tables in the Keck Pavilion, designing and 3D printing quick-release fittings for the bandsaw dust-collection drops and repairing the Grogan estate game table. Joe is always a familiar and welcome presence at HGS builds and Tuesday Shop Projects, generously sharing his woodworking knowledge and always ready to lend a hand to a fellow volunteer.
We are truly fortunate to have him as part of our community!
August 2026 Volunteer of the Month
Bryan Harding
Bryan has done extensive work supporting Shop Operations. He was nominated based on his recent contributions including building the router bit cabinet and the Grogen estate plane cabinet, fabricating weldments for the folding stage, organizing hardware storage, installing most of the shop’s electrical service (Keck Pavilion, lathe area, rewiring old shop), and coordinating bathroom tile installation. Bryan’s contributions have made a significant impact to all shop users. Thank you Bryan!
