Description

The maker of this lovely tea box has used sapele, an exotic wood species (a sustainable product now grown on plantations), and has incorporated marquetry depicting an oak leaf into the top. Marquetry is the traditional art of cutting and assembling very thin slices of wood into pictures and patterns. The box top is finished with lacquer while the rest of the box has an oil-based finish rubbed out for a nice sheen. The interior includes a tray allowing for easy separation of various packaged tea varieties.
