On behalf of our Board of Directors, I’d like to welcome you to the San Diego Fine Woodworker’s Association! Whether you’re an existing Member or looking for more information and support in your woodworking endeavors, this is the place to be!

The San Diego Fine Woodworkers Association was founded over 40 years ago to promote woodworking in San Diego and to hold an annual Exhibition of Fine Woodworking that would give local woodworkers the opportunity to show off their creations. The result was the creation of the Design in Wood Show at the San Diego County Fair, now one of the Fair’s most popular attractions. It is the largest juried woodworking exhibition in the Western Hemisphere and has entertained and inspired countless Fair-goers for over four decades.

We are one of the largest Woodworking Groups in the Country, with over 1,000 Members. About ten years ago, we decided to open our own Member’s Shop to further advance our goals and objectives. That Shop, in the Miramar area, has been an unqualified success, allowing us to provide Members with a well equipped Shop, access to a number of Special Interest Groups and a wide variety of Class offerings.

Our Class list features everything from Introductory courses to highly specialized techniques and tool operations in our comfortable and well equipped Shop. Also available are Digital Tool offerings such as laser, CNC, 3D Printing and Color Sublimation

By far the most important part of the San Diego Fine Woodworkers Association, however, is our people. We have grown a true Community of wood lovers who have also discovered that woodworking is even more fun if you can share it with other woodworkers. Having our own Shop has accelerated this growth and nearly 30 percent of our Membership is now female!
